I love birds. I have a duck pond around the corner from me. But the loopy people who live on my little street actually wanted to have a coffee meeting to discuss how to deal with the birds as they may carry bird flu and kill us all.

Indeed. And we all may be run down by a bus when we cross the street or die of the bubonic plague, but the chances are that we won't.

People can be so hysterical sometimes.
